These Types Of Exercise Have Become More Accessible

All too often, we blame a handful of things for a lack of consistency with regard to exercise like time, logistics, and even boredom. We may like to play sports, but it’s hard to find the time or training. We may like to lift weights, but it’s hard to get to the gym. We may do best with long jogs, but find them boring. Many of these reason are why we’ve written before about the importance of sustaining a fitness lifestyle.

In this post we’re going to briefly highlight a diverse range of fitness activities that might help you to establish a regular routine. Once upon a time these exercises may have been somewhat inaccessible for one reason or another, but they are now more readily available than ever.

Yoga

It’s always been easy enough to do yoga exercises in the privacy of your own home. All you need is a set of comfortable clothes, a mat or a soft floor, and a program of positions and movements. It’s that last requirement that, until the last few years, has been a little tricky. It can be hard to devise your own yoga program even if you have experience going to classes. Now, there are multiple highly rated yoga apps that bring class-like instruction and established routines to your mobile devices. All that’s left is to find the time—anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour—to do some exercises.

Tennis

If you know how to play tennis and you have friends to join you, it’s easy enough to get in some rallies or a match and work up a good sweat now and then. If this is a type of exercise that appeals to you without your having ever really gotten into it, it can be tricky. Club memberships are expensive and taking lessons can seem kind of involved. Lately, the lesson part of the equation has become a lot more simple. There are online tools designed to help you find area-specific instructors who can tailor lessons to your level of play. With the convenience of being able to find a coach that’s able to work with your schedule it’s easier than ever to get into this particular sport.

Swimming

As long as you have access to a pool, swimming isn’t too involved. But, like jogging, it can quickly become boring even for people who are particularly concerned with personal fitness. Unlike jogging, however, swimming has long been without many fitness enthusiasts’ favorite mode of distraction: headphones! We’ve seen some waterproof, athletic headphones coming onto the market in recent years, but with mainstream smartphones using water-resistant technologies and Bluetooth, waterproof headphone options expanding and now you can finally have a soundtrack while you swim.

Kettlebell Training

Finally, there’s kettlebell training, which is viewed by many as one of the better total body workout options out there. In the past, this has been a particularly inaccessible form of exercise. Many people complain about how expensive kettlebells are, and they didn’t use to be commonplace in gyms. This has changed significantly. Kettlebell training has become a major trend all across the country, and while that doesn’t guarantee that your gym will have sets of these dynamic weights, it does mean that you might be able to find a gym in your area where you’ll be able to do this kind of training.
